What is Nonprofit City?

A recognition for cities with a nonprofit-friendly ecosystem, and for the places that support it.

Nonprofit City recognizes cities for the strength of their civil society: the nonprofits that serve residents, the leaders and delegations they welcome, and the places that host them.

The recognition is announced on February 27, World NGO Day. Each selected city is then featured digitally and in its own limited-edition coffee table book, highlighting the places that support and empower civil society.

Why it matters for the city

Nonprofits bring leaders, delegations, conferences, partnerships and new opportunities to the cities they call home.

It also reaches local business: when a foreign nonprofit or its leaders choose where to hold an event or look for partners, they look at the cities that welcome them.

02Nonprofit Leaders & DelegatesPosition the city for visiting leaders, delegations and partners.

We welcome West Hollywood to be the first city in the USA to recognize the Day

We would be honoured if West Hollywood considered proclaiming or recognizing 27 February, World NGO Day, as an international day to celebrate the city’s nonprofits and to welcome new organizations. It would be the first city in the United States to do so.
