The Principles

The Nonprofit City Principles

Nonprofit City Partners are the hotels, venues and businesses that welcome the nonprofit sector. Each partner meets at least one of the Nonprofit City principles and shares its story in the guide, including the nonprofits it supports. In return for supporting the guide, partners receive the Nonprofit City Partner mark, recognizing them as a nonprofit-friendly place.

01

World NGO Day

Mark 27 February each year by celebrating the nonprofits in your city, for example by hosting a gathering, sharing their stories or opening your doors for the day.

02

Nonprofit Rates

Offer nonprofit organizations fair and clear terms for your services, spaces or products, such as a nonprofit rate, discount or flexible payment. You set and publish the terms yourself.

03

Local Giving

Support at least one local nonprofit through a donation, in-kind help or professional services. Support goes directly to the nonprofit.

04

Community Space

Make your space available to nonprofits and community groups for gatherings, meetings or celebrations, free of charge or at reduced cost.

05

Team Volunteering

Encourage your team to volunteer with local nonprofits, whether in working hours or through organized volunteering days.
