Support FAQ

Questions about giving.

Why does World NGO Day need your support?

World NGO Day is built to remain free and accessible to civil society. Donations help us maintain the Day, preserve its history, develop free resources, and expand its reach — without putting access behind a paywall.

Where does my donation go?

Your gift helps keep World NGO Day free, independent and accessible — including the Nonprofit City Guides, preservation of the Day’s history, public resources, global awareness campaigns, and reaching places where civil society has limited visibility.

Will my donation support World NGO Day itself?

Yes. Donations support the development, preservation and global reach of World NGO Day and its public-interest initiatives.

Why is keeping World NGO Day independent important?

World NGO Day exists for civil society as a whole. Its credibility depends on being able to recognize and support the nonprofit community without being controlled by a government, party, corporation or individual interest.

Do you accept corporate and foundation support?

Yes, through sponsorships, grants and partnerships — structured so that support never compromises the independence or purpose of the Day.

Can I make a donation for a specific purpose?

Contact us before donating and we’ll work with you to honor specific intentions while keeping funds used responsibly.

Who oversees donations to help shape the future of World NGO Day?

Giving to World NGO Day is overseen by the World NGO Day Global Council, providing independent oversight of how support for the Day is managed and directed.

How will you be transparent about donations?

We believe supporters should be able to see how their giving helps shape the future of World NGO Day. Information about donations, supported initiatives, and the use of funds will be shared through MyWND, allowing our community to follow how support is contributing to the continued development and legacy of the Day.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

It depends on where you live, the receiving entity, and local law. Please consult your tax adviser or contact us for your jurisdiction.

Can I donate anonymously?

Yes. You may give without public recognition.

Can I make a one-time gift?

Absolutely — a simple way to support the Day without any ongoing commitment.

Can I give regularly?

Where recurring giving is available, even a small monthly gift provides reliable support throughout the year.

Can my company match my donation?

Many employers match donations — if yours participates, your gift may be matched at no cost to you.

Can I donate stock or through a donor-advised fund?

Yes, depending on your location and the receiving entity. Contact us to discuss the process.

What is a legacy gift?

A gift arranged today — for example in your will or living trust — to support World NGO Day in the future, for the civil-society leaders who come after us.

Why leave a gift in my will?

It helps ensure 27 February keeps recognizing civil society long into the future, and makes your support part of the Day’s continuing story.

Can I change or revoke a legacy gift?

Depends on the legal instrument and your jurisdiction — a will or living trust can generally be changed during your lifetime.

How are donations handled responsibly?

We direct contributions to the purposes they were given for, and believe supporters deserve clarity about how their gift helps.

Will I receive updates about how my support makes a difference?

Yes — new resources, preserved history, and greater recognition for civil society worldwide.

I have another question. Who can I contact?

We’re happy to help — reach out about donations, matching, wire transfers, legacy gifts, stock, donor-advised funds, or anything else.
