World NGO Day 2026 – CINGO, Council of Europe Marks 50 Years of Civil Society Impact
On February 27, 2026, the Conference of International Non-Governmental Organisations (CINGO) hosted a hybrid webinar, “Moments of Impact,” marking World NGO Day and celebrating its 50th anniversary. The event convened a diverse group of civil society leaders, youth representatives, social workers, and legal experts to discuss the evolving role of NGOs in democratic governance, human rights, and community development.
Marcis Skadmanis, founder of World NGO Day, opened the session with a keynote emphasizing the global influence of NGOs and the importance of fostering collaboration across borders. Presenters included representatives from ATD Fourth World, Volonteurope, and the International Federation of Social Workers Europe, who shared case studies illustrating how NGOs address social inequalities, promote civic engagement, and adapt to political and economic challenges.
The webinar offered both reflection and forward-looking strategy. Discussions highlighted lessons from past initiatives, including the 2023 Fourth Summit in Reykjavik and the New Democratic Pact launched in late 2025. Participants identified priorities for strengthening NGO resilience, expanding youth involvement, and enhancing cross-sector partnerships. The structured dialogue underscored the tangible societal contributions of NGOs while providing actionable insights for future civil society initiatives.
By combining experience, policy analysis, and youth perspectives, the event reinforced the vital role of NGOs in shaping inclusive societies. Attendees left with a clearer understanding of collaborative approaches and strategic priorities that can guide global civil society efforts in the coming decade.
